Mission Central proudly presents an Online Art Auction, featuring 25 original artworks and various prints (while supplies last).

During their reign of terror in Cambodia, the Khmer Rouge (1975–1979) are believed to have killed at least 1.5 million Cambodians. From 1979 to 1989, the country fell under the control of a Soviet-backed Revolutionary party created by Vietnam. It wasn’t until the early 1990s that Cambodia reached a UN supported independence. The country’s monarchy was restored and the first post-war elections were held in 1993.

The art in this auction is by a Cambodian artist named Chan Borey. Mr. Borey worked at World Vision during the Cambodian elections. The images in his artwork depict mostly portraits and images from the countryside and are believed to have been drawn during both the time of Vietnam rule and the Cambodian rebuilding in the early 1990s.
