About

In June 2018 a Canadian consultation called Future Fit was convened on the Future of the Western Mission Movement from a Canadian Perspective as a follow-up to the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) and the Canadian Missions Research Forum’s (CMRF) work on the Canadian Evangelical Mission Engagement Survey (CEMES). This consultation involved almost one hundred leaders from Agencies, Assembly (Church), Academy, and Agora (Marketplace).

We would like to continue to advance the conversation we began in 2018 with a consultation on January 29 and 30th, 2020 in Vancouver. The consultation will include reflection on the question: “How can churches and agencies work well together for the sake of Christ’s mission as we re-orient ourselves to the changing times?”

The Future Fit consultation will focus on building capacity in the body of Christ for mission. John Pellowe will begin the consultation with a look at the historic issues which have caused dissonance. On Wednesday evening Anthony Brown will offer a reflection on our theology of "Church". Towards the end of our time together, John Stackhouse, will help us understand our current cultural moment. Panels will then respond to future leaning questions and table discussion will contribute to actionable outcomes. Undergirding the event will be an openness to the Holy Spirit to lead us into repentance for our lack of unity in Christ’s mission.

Speakers will include Rev. Dr. John Pellowe (CCCC), Anthony Brown, Dr. John Stackhouse (Crandall University), Rev. Dr. Ross Lockhart (Director of the Centre of Missional Leadership, St. Andrew’s Hall) and others.

Please note that attendance at this conference is by invitation only. For registration information please contact John Hall at jhall@missioncentral.ca
