A Note from Our Director

A huge, vinyl map of the world spanned the entire wall of the foyer of the church I grew up in. A dozen photos of missionaries and their families had been pasted up on the wall. Lines pointed from each family to the place they had gone into the world to make disciples.

Walking by the wall every week gave me the impression that we were a missionary church. We were either going to become missionaries ourselves, or we would actively send and support the work. It lent extra meaning to our daily lives and vocations. I’m not claiming we had everything all figured out, but I will say this: we didn’t think of the Great Commission as a call for somebody else.

But here’s a mistake I made. Maybe it was the sheer size of the vinyl wall, but I somehow grew up thinking the Great Commission was close to being finished, and there were really only a few straggler nations who hadn’t heard about Jesus yet. If only!!

The Joshua Project reports that 3.6 billion people are part of people groups that have not yet been reached with the gospel. The percentage of active Christians in the world is nearly the same as it was 100 years ago!

I hope you’ll follow along as we share more about Mission Fest BC 2027 and the vision for the future over the coming weeks—because there are still so many nations that need missionaries. There are more missionaries who need to be sent. There are more gospel patrons called to resource those who go. We need to seek the Lord for His will for our moment. May God grant us a new era of powerful missionary movements that finally reach the entire world for Him. May our generation take great strides for Him and prepare next generations to boldly complete the work.

However Jesus may be calling you to participate in His Great Commission, you are called. I’m praying for you, that you would say yes to Him today. There’s a space on the vinyl wall with your name on it.
