Fundraising for Mission Central and Mission Fest BC
We’re sure many of you remember our updates last year about how Mission Central lost its status as a registered charity. We’re working on the reapplication, but one of the significant effects of losing our charitable status is that we currently have no monthly financial support. This means that we’re running out of the ability to “keep the lights on” or continue planning next year’s conference.
We’re asking for your help to enable us to continue the work we’ve been called to. We have three fundraising targets this year: monthly support, and two one-time budget amounts. We’ve committed to being transparent, and this is what we believe we need to make future years of Mission Fest BC possible.
Target #1 — $7,000 monthly support
Why? Our operational budget, including partial staff support, is currently $7,000 per month.
Our team donated many, many hours this last year. We’re very grateful and we trust the Lord will repay them, but this isn’t sustainable. Each team member is now being asked to fundraise 50% their own support, but we need to be able to cover the remainder of their living wages. We consider this an important part of our Kingdom stewardship.
Would you ask the Lord if He is calling you to join our monthly support team? Whether $10, $100, or $1000, your monthly financial commitment will be a blessing, and your partnership will be a deep source of encouragement. See below for giving links.
Target #2 — $40,000 for existing financial commitments
Why? Gracious brothers and sisters have provided interest-free loans and payment flexibility, which we want to be able to pay off before the next conference.
It’s always hard to fundraise toward debt, but we see this amount as what we would have been able to raise, if our charitable status had remained intact. These open-ended repayment timelines have been a tremendous gift during a complicated season. A big “thank you!” to those who put their own money on the line, believing the Lord would meet this need in His timing.
Are you able to help us honour the sacrifice made by these brothers and sisters?
If you include “repayment” in the memo of your donation of $500 or more, we will ensure your gift is used to fulfill our financial commitments.
Target #3 — $75,000 to cover Mission Fest BC 2027 costs
Why? We’re aiming for lower venue costs this year, but we still want to offer as much blessing as the Lord enables.
We want to bless the missionaries and agencies as much as possible, and extend the blessing to the churches we invite to gather together. Our hope is to provide meals and coffee breaks, bursaries for missionaries from far away and agencies in need, honoraria for everyone who volunteers their time, and more.
(We’ll provide a deeper look at our stretch goals in an upcoming email update!)
We know these are big asks.
But we’d much rather ask boldly for everything we need than ask for too little and end up with a deficit.
We continually ask the Lord for His provision! But we also believe that:
- if we ask the Lord’s people for support,
- and the Lord’s people ask Him to guide how they use the resources He’s provided,
… then our God who delights in providing will work wonders and miracles!
If He prompts you to give, we know your gift will result in fruit increasing “to your credit.” We say with Paul:
Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account.
To receive a tax receipt for your donation...
If you would like a donation tax receipt when you bless Mission Central financially, the Great Commission Foundation is receiving and receipting donations on our behalf.
If you don’t need a tax receipt for your donation...
If you represent a church, a non-profit organization, or you simply wish to give freely without needing a donation tax receipt, we will benefit from 100% of your donation.
