Join with others as we intercede during the COVID-19 crisis.

We are in an interesting season in Canada and the world. Everywhere people are being confronted with their own mortality, and fear is sometimes palpable. As humans we struggle with being housebound, and the discipline of social distancing.

During this time we need to remember that God is near. As followers of Jesus, he has promised us peace and has made us overcomers. He's also made us his ambassadors.

We need to intercede for the world.

In My Utmost for His Highest, Oswald Chambers writes:

Are we living in such relationship with others that we do the work of intercession as a result of being the children of God who are taught by His Spirit? We should take a look at our current circumstances. Do crises which affect us or others in our home, business, country, or elsewhere, seem to be crushing in on us? Are we being pushed out of the presence of God and left with no time for worship? If so, we must put a stop to such distractions and get into such a living relationship with God that our relationship with others is maintained through the work of intercession, where God works miracles.

It is Christ...who also makes intercession for us...the Spirit...makes intercession for the saints... (Romans 8:34,27)

Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

Praying for the World

Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of prayer and fasting, will start on the evening of April 23 this year, and continue until the evening of May 23. This month is very special to all Muslims around the world, because as families and communities they focus together on prayer.

The pandemic of COVID-19 around the world makes this year a unique year for Ramadan as people are struggling with fear and uncertainties. This deeply affects our Muslim friends worldwide, as they will not be able to practice their rituals, like group prayers in mosques, in a normal fashion. These rituals are a pillar of their faith, and are very important to them as a community.
